Laminar Nozzle Top View

The laminar nozzle is made from 6" pvc. The top itself is constructed from a threaded clean-out which allows me to easily remove the top for maintenance. By not screwing the top all the way down it leaves some threads exposed to which I can attach another threaded cleanout to act as a cutter isolation chamber mount.

Isolation Chamber Funnels

Each end of the chamber is made up of a 4" test cap with the center cut out and a plastic funnel inserted to act as a deflector shield on both the top and bottom of the funnel to help protect the stream.

I had a piece of clear 3" PVC left over from another expiramental laminar nozzle so I added it to the top of the low-pass jitter filter so I could monitor the water level inside the tube.

Rather than drilling holes for bulk-head type connections I used 3" X 1 1/2" T-Y fittings that I then bushed down to 3/4" for the hose connections.

I purchased a fiber-optic light set from E-bat. The kits contains an LED box which puts out a full ranges of rotating colors. It has about 75 individual strands, but I was only able to get about half through the 3/4 inch (19mm) pipe. The rest I will use later for other fountain features.

I used a 3/4 inch (19mm) pvc tube with a clear plastic cap (which I purchased on the internet). The tube runs up the center of the nozzle and ends a few inches from the outlet.

This is a 6 inch (150mm) pvc cap with holes drilled and 3/4 inch (19mm) pvc connections added for the water source and to allow the fiber-optic cable to be inserted.

Here is a side view of the outlet. I cut the pex connection off and then use a bench grinder to flaten out the bottom. The piece has a hole in it that is about 1/2 inch (12.5mm) with a chamfered edge.

The outlet is a small brass fitting used for connection PEX tubing which I purchased at a home center.

I used a piece of 1/2 inch (12mm) pvc trim board cut and size to fit inside the clean out cap to again create a flat surface and to give the outlet picec something solid to attach to.

The outlet cap is a 6 inch (150mm) pvc clean-out cap. I used a couple to attach a clean-out adpater to to the nozzle body. The "nut" on the top of the cap was cut off to create a more flat surface.

The 3 screws help in tightening and removed the screw on cap and also help to hold the nozzle in place in the fountain tub.
